The idea had been growing in the comedian’s mind for a while… Going on a totally ridiculous road trip with a camera. Then he thought: “Canada is quite a large country… What is there to see? Timmins and Wawa! Of course.” And voilà! The concept was instantaneous: why not honor 6 too often ridiculed communities in Ontario… Why not! Derrick Frenette discussed his concept with young producer Alexandre Letendre, who is just as daring. Together, they team up to achieve an ambitious project that will hopefully make Quebec and Canadian Internet users smile. It is in a Volkswagen Eurovan that Derrick Frenette is off to discover Northern Ontario. At the end, it is the Internet users who will vote for their favourite city. The winning city will receive a laminated photo of Derrick in junior kindergarten as well as a $30 cheque, which will be sent by regular mail to the mayor of the city. Ô Kanada introduces Internet users to an unknown culture, and a taste for adventure, keeping in mind that… Ontario is not so bad!
